INSTALLATION

At Serviceberry Foodscapes, we design beautiful landscapes that produce food, support healthy ecosystems, and connect people to the land.

From raised bed gardens and edible landscapes to food forests, orchards and homesteads we bring together food-producing plants with native plants that provide habitat and attract beneficial wildlife.

We help homeowners, organizations, and communities imagine what’s possible—and create a clear plan for bringing it to life. Whether you’re dreaming of a backyard filled with food, a community foodscape, an edible schoolyard, or a productive farm, we can help turn that vision into a thoughtful, site-specific design.

CONSULTATION + DESIGN

Grow food at home with a plan that fits your land and your life.

Whether you're starting with a blank slate, rethinking an existing garden, or trying to figure out where to put that pawpaw patch you've been dreaming about, I can help you see the possibilities in your landscape.

Serviceberry offers ecological edible landscape consultation and design for homeowners, farms, businesses, schools and community spaces.

Based in Ithaca and serving the Finger Lakes in-person.

***Remote consultation and design available for clients throughout Zones 4–7.***

CONSULTATION

We'll spend 1-2 hours walking your property together and talking through what's possible. We'll look at sun, water, existing plants, growing spaces and your goals for the property—and I'll help you begin putting the pieces together.

This is a great fit if you want to DIY your landscape, have a handful of specific questions, or simply aren't sure yet how much design help you need.

Your consultation can include:

  • Site-specific design recommendations

  • Ideas for fruit trees, berries, perennial foods, vegetables and native plantings

  • Recommendations for garden placement, pathways, water, structures and other landscape features

  • Plant ID walks for understanding what you have on your property

  • A simple hand-drawn sketch when helpful

  • A clear sense of what I'd prioritize first

ACTION PLAN

A design gives you the vision. The Action Plan gives you the roadmap.

Every complete Serviceberry design can be accompanied by a customized Action Plan that helps you move from drawing to installation.

The design shows the layout, planting and major landscape features. The Action Plan breaks that vision into practical next steps—what to do first, what materials you’ll need, how to phase the work, and what to keep in mind as the landscape is installed.

Depending on the project, your Action Plan may include plant quantities and spacing, material recommendations, installation notes, project phasing, sourcing guidance, and relevant Serviceberry Implementation Guides.

Your Foodscape Action Plan might include:

  • Recommended plants and varieties

  • Plant quantities and spacing

  • Recommended materials

  • Priority projects

  • Suggested phasing: What should I do this fall? What can wait until next year?

  • Estimated DIY material quantities where appropriate

  • Links to recommended products and resources

  • Serviceberry Implementation Guides for the projects included in your plan

Starting at $750

INSTALLATION

A thriving foodscape begins with healthy soil and thoughtful water management. We prepare your site with care for the existing landscape, building soil health, helping water soak into the ground, and creating the conditions for plants to thrive. From there, we install pathways, edging, and trellises before bringing the design to life with edible and native plants.

Installation pricing includes plants, materials, and labor. You’ll receive a detailed quote once your design is finalized.

Maintenance

To ensure the success and productivity of your farm, garden or edible landscape,  periodic maintenance sessions are offered.

Maintenance plans include:

  • weed management, mulching and adding of compost

  • organic pest management, plant care, irrigation system checks

  • winter pruning of fruit trees and spring renewal pruning

  • filling in with additional plantings

  • organic fertility management
